Job description

Position Overview:
The Tour Host is responsible for delivering engaging, informative, and entertaining commentary on City Sightseeing New Orleans' tours, including double-decker bus and walking tours. This position brings local charm and historical knowledge to life while ensuring guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience. Tour Hosts are expected to maintain a professional, energetic presence while balancing historical information, entertainment, and safety messaging for diverse audiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
Tour Presentation
  • Deliver scripted tour content in a dynamic, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Share accurate historical facts through storytelling and tasteful personal anecdotes.
  • Adjust delivery based on guest demographics and stop-to-stop rider changes.

Guest Services
  • Provide general visitor information and respond to guest inquiries in a courteous and knowledgeable manner.
  • Address guest requests and resolve minor complaints professionally and promptly.
  • Encourage and respond to guest feedback to improve the overall tour experience.

Safety & Security
  • Clearly communicate tour safety rules in a positive, engaging manner.
  • Monitor guest activity during tours to help ensure a safe environment.
  • Follow all safety and emergency protocols as established by company policy.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Follow daily operational procedures as directed.
  • Communicate tour-related updates or incidents to the Route Manager and Director of Sales & Operations.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to ensure a smooth and safe tour experience.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Must be licensed by the City of New Orleans as a Tour Guide (or meet eligibility to obtain license).
  • Strong public speaking and storytelling abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of New Orleans history, culture, and major attractions.
  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to handle diverse audiences and manage group dynamics.
  • Familiarity with the tour routes, ticketing options, and surrounding attractions.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and talk for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of hands, arms, and voice while delivering tours.
  • Ability to climb stairs, board buses, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
