Tour Operator Guide information

What is a tour operator guide?

Tour Operator Guides are professionals who organize and lead tours for groups or individuals, ensuring that travelers have informative, enjoyable, and safe experiences. They plan itineraries, arrange transportation and accommodations, provide commentary on the destinations, and handle logistics throughout the trip. Tour Operator Guides also act as liaisons between travelers and local services, helping to solve problems and answer questions. Their expertise in the local culture, history, and attractions greatly enhances the travel experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a tour operator guide, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Tour Operator Guide, you need in-depth knowledge of local history, geography, and culture, usually supported by relevant training or tourism certifications. Familiarity with booking systems, itinerary planning software, and possibly foreign language skills are often required. Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and adaptability help guides engage diverse groups and handle unexpected situations. These skills ensure memorable, safe, and informative experiences for clients, which are essential for positive reviews and repeat business.

What are some common challenges faced by tour operator guides, and how can they be managed on the job?

Tour Operator Guides often navigate challenges such as managing diverse group dynamics, handling unexpected changes in itinerary, and addressing traveler concerns on the spot. Flexibility, strong communication skills, and thorough preparation are key to overcoming these obstacles. Guides typically rely on their knowledge of local attractions and problem-solving abilities to ensure a positive experience for all participants, even when plans change suddenly due to weather, transportation issues, or guest needs. Building rapport with guests and collaborating closely with other team members, such as drivers and coordinators, also helps in delivering a seamless tour experience.

Faraday Future

Los Angeles, CA • On-site

Full-time

Job description

The Company:

Faraday Future (FF) is a California-based mobility company, leveraging the latest technologies and world's best talent to realize exciting new possibilities in mobility. We're producing user-centric, technology-first vehicles to establish new paradigms in human-vehicle interaction. We're not just seeking to change how our cars work – we're seeking to change the way we drive. At FF, we're creating something new, something connected, and something with a true global impact.

Your Role:

As the Pre-Sales Application Engineer (FAE) you are the technical backbone of your state sales region. You own every technical touchpoint of the sales cycle – product demonstrations, proof-of-concept projects, on-site deployment and customer training – for the full FF EAI Robotics portfolio (Navi, Aegis, Master, Futurist, FABER), enabling the regional Key Account Managers and the PAR Development Manager to win and retain B2B customers and channel partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver technical product demonstrations and proof-of-concept (POC) projects for education, industrial, events & hospitality, and public safety customers across the assigned state region
  • Lead on-site deployment, configuration, and customer training following FF's standard deployment SOP (robot setup, controller/App connectivity, scenario programming, teacher/operator training)
  • Translate customer technical requirements and integration questions into structured feedback for FF product and engineering teams, and own the technical Q&A loop with customers and channel partners
  • Maintain and manage the regional demo fleet (inventory, condition, firmware, logistics for events and customer demos)
  • Support the PAR Development Manager with dealer technical enablement and certification training
  • Develop scenario-specific application solutions (e.g., campus tour guide, warehouse material handling, security patrol routes) and document them in the regional knowledge base
  • Represent FF EAI Robotics at regional trade shows, exhibitions, and customer events

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering, field application engineering, or technical deployment of robotics, automation, or IoT products
  • Hands-on ability to independently install, configure, network, and troubleshoot robotic systems on customer sites
  • Strong presentation skills; able to demonstrate complex technology to non-technical audiences
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%+ within the assigned region

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with quadruped/humanoid robotics platforms, ROS, or motion-capture and simulation tooling
  • Bilingual English/Mandarin communication skills
  • Experience supporting channel partners or resellers with technical enablement

Perks + Benefits

  • Stock options for every employee
  • Healthcare + dental + vision benefits (Free for you/discounted for family)
  • 401(k) options
  • "Soul of Faraday" community outreach team
