Job description

Class A CDL Driver Direct Hire

TOPS Staffing is hiring two Class A CDL Drivers for a direct hire opportunity with a well-established industrial contractor serving commercial and construction customers throughout the Pittsburgh area. This position offers a variety of work, operating late-model Peterbilt trucks while transporting fabricated materials, construction equipment, and job site supplies. Drivers are home most nights, with overnight travel being very rare.

Pay: $28.00-$32.00/hour (based on experience)

Preferred Schedule: 4-day, 10-hour workweek

Typical Start Time: 6:00 AM

Overtime available Occasional nights or weekends based on project needs

What You'll Do:

  • Safely operate Class A CDL vehicles, including stake trucks, trailers, lowboys, and dump trucks
  • Transport fabricated materials, ductwork, heavy equipment, and construction supplies
  • Load, unload, and secure cargo for safe transportation
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Complete delivery paperwork and electronic driver logs
  • Work closely with dispatch and customers to ensure timely deliveries
  • Maintain a clean vehicle and follow all DOT safety regulations

Qualifications:

  • Valid Class A CDL (manual transmission - no restrictions)
  • Clean driving record (MVR)
  • Minimum 6 months of recent Class A driving experience
  • Experience hauling heavy equipment or construction materials preferred but not required
  • Comfortable loading and unloading equipment
  • Able to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Strong communication skills and professional customer service
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
