ABOUT THIS ROLE

St. Michael's is hiring a Contract Specialist to support a Department of Defense client. As the Contract Specialist, you interpret solicitation provisions and contract clauses for vendors and Government officials. You will be in a client-facing role that will benefit from your previous experience assisting the Contracting Officer with performing contract closeout functions for Firm Fixed Price and Cost Reimbursable contracts.   Our core value of Teamwork will be paramount to this role as you will supporting the larger team in providing professional advice and recommendations to decision makers and approval authorities.

LOCATION

Fort Belvoir, VA (100% on-site)

WHO YOU ARE

  • TOP SECRET clearance with SCI Eligibility
  • 5 years of Contracting experience.
  • Expert knowledge of pre-award simplified acquisition procedures.
  • Expert knowledge of  Standard Procurement System (SPS) PD2
  • Expert knowledge of FAR Part 13 procedures including simplified procedures for certain commercial items.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performance of procurement procedures applicable to simple and complex procurements, advising requiring activities on processes related to inspection and acceptation of goods and services, and coordinating the receipt of invoices with the Resource Management Section.
  • Interpretation of solicitation provisions and contract clauses for vendors and Government officials providing professional advice and recommendations to decision maker and approval authorities. 
  • Perform contract administration and coordinate performance measurement with the requiring activity. 
  • Assisting the Contracting Officer with performing contract closeout functions for Firm Fixed Price and Cost Reimbursable contracts. Duties include interfacing with the Program Office and Budget Office to verify that deliverables have been received by the Government and all funds have been expended, initiating applicable contract modification documents, drafting documentation, and preparing the closeout file for the Contracting Officer's review and approval.
