Position Summary:
At Kriete Truck Center's it's not just about trucks. It's about people learning, growing, and building real careers in the diesel industry. This entry-level Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about working with their hands, solving problems, and learning from experienced professionals.
You will focus primarily on preventative maintenance (PM) and basic repair work, gaining hands-on experience with heavy-duty equipment while working alongside a seasoned foreman on Mack, Volvo, Hino, Mitsubishi, and Isuzu trucks. We will provide paid, OEM-certified training, the tools to succeed, and a team that genuinely wants to see you grow in this industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks.
  • Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air/hydraulic brakes, suspensions, clutches, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools to ensure accurate assessments and repairs.
  • Clearly communicate findings, recommended repairs, and service updates with Service Advisors and Parts Counter Associates.
  • Maintain detailed repair orders and documentation of all repairs in accordance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Road test vehicles to confirm proper repairs when required.
  • Participate in our OEM-directed training path to stay current on new technologies, repair techniques, and warranty guidelines.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations (OSHA, hazardous waste disposal, etc.)
  • Keep the shop area clean and organized, ensuring all tools are maintained properly.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in diesel engines and heavy-duty truck repairs
  • Proficiency in using laptop-based software.
  • Ability to navigate dealer management and OEM diagnostic systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay technical information clearly.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks such as walking, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Forklift operation experience is a plus but not required.
  • Sound judgment and ability to make logical decisions in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Ability to remain professional at all times and work collaboratively with other mechanics to complete repairs.

Education & Work Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic tool set required - specialty tools provided.
  • Enrollment in a Technical Degree program preferred, but not required
  • Valid driver's license required
  • CDL not required but preferred
  • Willingness to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) is a plus.
