As Kanopi continues to grow, we're looking to engage a Contract Senior Website Content Strategist & Copywriter on a contract basis.

About The Job

Kanopi Studios is seeking a Contract Senior Website Content Strategist & Copywriter who can turn research and data into clear, effective website content experiences.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing content strategy and writing the final copy. They can take a project from discovery and research through strategy, content development and implementation. They should be able to clearly communicate and demonstrate the rationale behind their recommendations to internal and client teams.

Core Accountabilities

Champion User-Centered Content Strategy

  • Be a vocal advocate for user-first content practices within our internal and client teams.
  • Ensure content decisions are rooted in user research, accessibility best practices, and business goals.
  • Guide clients in understanding how content impacts navigation, usability, and conversions.

Craft Strategic, Accessible Copy

  • Write engaging copy that:
    • Aligns to the overall content strategy and project goals.
    • Meets established accessibility standards
    • Is SEO and AEO ready

Lead Content Discovery and Strategy

  • Plan, create, and present a range of deliverables including (but not limited to):
    • Content Audits & Map/Gap Analyses
    • User Journeys, Personas & User Flows
    • Keyword, SEO & AEO Research and Recommendations
    • Content Maps
    • Copy Guidelines, Voice/Tone Frameworks & UX Copywriting
    • Content governance documentation

Contribute to Kanopi's Brand and Sales Presence

  • Support the internal teams by contributing to thought leadership and promotional initiatives such as:
    • Being an active participant and voice for creative services in client pitch meetings
    • Webinars, case studies, and speaking engagements
    • Writing blog posts or participating in video content
    • Representing Kanopi at conferences or industry events
About the Compensation and Work Requirements

This is an independent contractor engagement. Work is project-based, hours will vary, and no minimum hours are guaranteed. Contractors invoice at their contracted hourly rate. The expected hourly rate range for this role is $50 - $70 CAD, depending on experience and skills. Please note the top of this range is firm and non-negotiable.

This is a 100% remote role. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada, reside in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, or the Northwest Territories, and be available for regular collaboration during Pacific Time business hours. We are not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
