Tool Room Supervisor

 PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Supervises tool room personnel. Works closely with engineering on new job launches and prototypes while supporting production tooling needs to maintain high quality and ensure on-time delivery.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS: (Must have Tool & Die Experience)

The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position.  However, Plant Supervision or Toolroom manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.

  • Directly supervise all toolroom personnel for the most favorable costs and quality workmanship.
  • Maintain the established PM maintenance program that successfully cares for all tools to prevent quality and productivity problems.
  • Maintain tool improvement program that is data driven and successful in providing ongoing improvement related to die and tool performance.
  • Analyze machining and tooling problems and coordinate corrective action.
  • Provide instruction and guidance in the use of tool room equipment.
  • Performs all duties and operates machinery & equipment according to MIOSHA standards and company procedures using required safety equipment (gloves, sleeves, ear plugs, etc.).
  • Maintains harmonious employer/associate relations among those within the department.
  • Performs activities of associates supervised.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • Able to work 2nd shift and additional hours as needed.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality in all duties.
  • Keeps work areas clean and orderly.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities.
  •  Assumes other duties as directed by Plant Supervision or Toolroom Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Tool and Die Journeyman or equivalent. This is a working supervisor.  Will not be considered without Tool & Die Experience. 
  •           One year certificate from college or technical school; or a minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  •           3-5 years of experience supervising employees desired.

This full-time, salaried onsite role is a part of our Tool Room team and reports to the Tool & Die Manager.
