Job description

MACHINE TOOL ELECTRICIANย 

JOB SUMMARY:

ย Assemble and wire machine tooling (and related prototypes) according to electrical schematics for use in Android assembly operations.ย ย Performย tasks such as wire,ย panel build, trouble shoot, debug, and install new machine tooling and equipment.ย ย Work closely with controls engineers to communicate hardware requirements and engineering changes, and to debug systems.ย ย Duties are performed with oversightย by Electrician IIย and prioritization by the shop manager.ย 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble electrical panels according to electrical schematics.ย 
  • Assemble, wire, debug, and install machine toolingย and equipmentย according to electrical schematicsย to include low voltage wiring and 110V to 480V wiring.ย 
  • Troubleshoot hardwareย andย assistย with root cause analysis of issues related to the build orย identifiedย in Android assembly operations.ย 
  • Record and document test data; prepare sketches,ย schematicsย and graphical test results.ย ย ย 
  • Maintains safe operations and a clean work area by adhering to safety and housekeeping procedures/regulations.ย 
  • May make continuous improvement suggestions andย participateย in initiatives to improve productivity and process efficiency.ย 
  • May provide input for design reviews, proposals, specifications, work standards, and business processes.ย 
  • Complete all necessary forms, build documents andย reportsย withinย a timelyย fashion, as required by Android quality management system.ย 
  • Interface with customers andย vendorsย as necessary.ย 
  • Communicate with Shopย Manager asย toย progress ofย projects.ย 
  • Assistย inย maintainingย predetermined inventory levels of components, supplies, materials, etc., in the build shop.ย 
  • All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
ย 

  • Minimum ofย 3ย years workingย as a Machine Tool Electrician or similar field, preferably in the automotive industry.ย ย ย 
  • Preferred -ย Associateโ€™s degree in Electricalย or Electronic Technology or related field.ย 

TRAVEL:ย 

  • Some travel may be required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

ย 

  • Must be able to fluently read electrical schematics.ย 
  • Experience with common hand tools such as electricalย tester, handย drill, angleย grinder,ย Metabo, chopย saw, horizontal bandย saw, drillย press,ย etc.ย ย ย 
  • Skilledย in assembly and repair ofย machine tooling and equipment.ย 
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to technical detailย 
  • Ability to test and troubleshootย electrical circuits,ย componentsย and equipment.ย 
  • Competentย inย operatingย basicย test equipment such as digital multimeters,ย thermocouples,ย programmable power supplies, etc.ย 
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools.ย 
  • Problem solving skills andย decision-makingย ability.ย 
  • Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information and respond to questions from team members and customers.ย 
  • Ability to multi-task, work underย pressureย and meet deadlines.ย ย ย ย 
  • Basic skills in using Microsoft Officeย Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.ย 
  • Ability to use personal protective equipment and follow safety guidelines.ย 
  • Ability toย maintainย a neat and organized work area.ย
