About This Role

POSITION: Pre-K Teacher

REPORTS TO: VPK Education Manager

SALARY: $26.78 per hour

SCHEDULE: M-F 7:30 to 3:30


What You'll Do

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Manage classroom while educating students and completing the curriculum's goals and expectations.
  • Treat participants, community members and fellow staff with positive regard as defined in Family Resource Agency’s mission statement.
  • Collaborate with classroom staff to ensure the classroom is an inviting and nurturing environment reflective of the local community.
  • Supervise assigned classroom staff and volunteers.
  • Observe and document the developmental level of each child. Individualize using appropriate tools and information from parents, staff and professionals to create an individualized plan for each enrolled child.
  • Plan, implement, evaluate and modify child activities, daily classroom activities, involving staff and volunteers.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings for assigned children with special needs.
  • Collaborate with other staff and Disabilities Coordinator to ensure that all team members have the information necessary for effective participation in IEP meetings.
  • Arrange home visit schedule to meet family's needs.
  • Serve as a resource person for families to facilitate access to social services within their communities.
  • Share current information with parents related to child progress and potential challenges.
  • Inform parents of Child Abuse Policy and report suspected abuse.
  • Collaborate with Health Coordinator to ensure completion of all health services, provide community health resource information and make necessary referrals.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Must have Pre-K certification in Tennessee. Head Start/Pre-K experience preferred. A current physical, TB skin test or chest X-Ray, drug test, and background ck are required. Applicants should list bilingual skills if applicable. Family Resource Agency is a drug-free workplace. EOE.
