Shifts will be 2-2-3/12-Hour shifts with both Day and Night availability

Job Overview
This individual will be responsible for operating and ensuring the machine is running at its optimum level both safely and efficiently. This position will monitor all physical characteristics, monitor specific tests and results and take corrective actions as necessary to ensure quality material is being manufactured with low waste. The incumbent will be responsible for documenting and communicating all changes.
General Responsibilities
  • Have a self-motivated, proactive and a positive "can do" attitude.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Be aware of machine results and take initiative to respond to poor results.
  • Have the physical ability to perform manual labor; climb; bend, etc.
  • Have a good work, safety, performance and attendance record.
  • Ensure all production materials are available.
  • Set up machine and make necessary changes to ensure quality material is produced.
  • Identify and solve immediate and short-term machine quality, waste, delay and safety issues.
  • Perform quality control tests on all materials manufactured
  • Keep records up to date and communicate fully with other team members.
  • Ability to operate forklift or other lift equipment is desired
  • Run the machine at the maximum speed (as stated on the NTC standards sheet for the product running) with low waste, while producing a quality product meeting NTC and customer requirements.
  • Perform roll changes, thread the machine, trouble shoot, make diameter, perforation cut, tension, and log saw adjustments.
  • Responsible for cleaning the machine and work area creating a clean and safe working environment.
  • Accurately complete daily production reports, and other miscellaneous paper work.
  • Fix runability problems: Perform diameter and perforation adjustments, correct tension problems, and any other machine problems or adjustments as they arise
  • Log Saw adjustments: Understand the correct way to set grind stones, change and grind log saw blade, set roll clamps, and set program screen
  • Case-Packer: Understand how to operate the case-packer, load the magazine, set the control panel screen, and make adjustments for case configuration changes
  • Wrapper: Understand how to operate the wrapper, change and align over-wrap parent rolls, re-time the wrapper, make adjustments for roll diameter changes, and set the control panel screen
  • Quality checks: Run all products to NTC and customer requirements. Check every product case to ensure compliance to these requirements
  • Roll changes: Put on correct parent rolls of paper as needed, cutting down finished cores. Splicing the roll of paper into the web and/or threading the machine
  • Production and waste standards: maintain 90% production efficiency or better and maintain waste standards at or below 8%
  • Greasing and oiling: Lubricate machines daily, making sure oiler is full and all times and that the machine is greased
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean work area, including clean floor, tables and machines.
  • Safety: Follow all safety procedures, including but not limited to: Lockout/Tagout, operating with all guards in place, using all personal protective equipment, and wearing appropriate clothing for machine operation. No loose or baggy clothes, no dangling jewelry, and hair longer than shoulder length must be tied up
  • Constant standing, walk and use of hands and fingers and frequent talking and hearing
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Good close distance and peripheral vision as well as depth perception and the ability to see colors and adjust focus
  • All other tasks as assigned
