What are Tire Associates?

Tire Associates are automotive service professionals who specialize in working with tires. Their responsibilities typically include mounting, balancing, rotating, and repairing tires for cars, trucks, or other vehicles. They may also inspect tires for wear, recommend replacements, and assist customers with tire selection. Tire Associates often work in tire shops, auto service centers, or dealerships and must have a good understanding of tire safety and maintenance practices.

The role can be physically demanding, but it offers valuable hands-on experience and opportunities to learn more about automotive service.

Do you have to be certified to be a tire technician?

Tire associates or technicians typically do not need formal certification to perform basic tire installation and maintenance, but certification programs like the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Tire Service Certification can enhance skills and job prospects. Employers may prefer or require certification for advanced or specialized tasks, and safety training is often provided on the job.
