Summary:
Under the direction of the Site Instructor and Assistant Site Instructor, the Hillsborough County Public Schools Out of School Time (HOST) Program Elementary Childcare Aide will provide direct supervision of students by performing childcare duties and related tasks.
DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must:

Responsibilities:
• Assists the site instructor and/or assistant instructor.
• Assists with organizing and cleaning up after activities, and helps to maintain the cleanliness and order of play and storage areas, including equipment, games, and manipulatives, according to Health and Safety Standards.
• Participates in daily program activities and performs basic duties related to daily program operations.
• Attends site HOST staff meetings, including workshops and in-service training programs related to job assignment and duties.
• Attends 15 hours of child care training each year. Maintains current First Aide/CPR/AED certification (applicable coursework shall be included in the 15-hour requirement). All training requirements must be completed within three (3) months of appointment start date; applicable coursework shall be included in the 15-hour requirement.
• Builds positive relationships with children and other staff members.
• Conducts group activities as directed by the site instructor; plans independently and implements daily activities for children.
• Ensures compliance with rules and applicable district, local, state, and federal laws, policies and regulations.
• Performs any other duties as assigned.

Experience: Childcare experience preferred but not required.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Attend 15 hours of child care training each year. Language Skills: Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Writes routine reports and correspondence. Speaks effectively before groups of individuals.
Mathematical Skills: Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, and percent and draws and interprets bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deals with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: None.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, hearing, near acuity, and field of vision.
Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.
Reaching Activities: Both dominant and non-dominant hand; overhead.
Environmental Conditions: Noise Intensity: 3, moderate.
