Job description

Position Summary

Avail Staffing is currently seeking an experienced and CERTIFIED PCMSTile Installer to join our marine insulation team. This role focuses on theinstallation of Preformed Compartmented Maintenance System (PCMS) acoustictiles aboard U.S. Navy and commercial vessels. The installer will beresponsible for accurately fitting, cutting, adhering, and finishing PCMS tilesin compartments to meet military specifications for sound dampening and thermalinsulation.


**MUST HAVE PCMS CERTIFICATION FOR THIS POSITION


Key Responsibilities

  • Install PCMS acoustic tiles on overheads, bulkheads, and other designated areas aboard ships and submarines.
  • Measure and cut tiles to fit around obstructions such as piping, ductwork, or electrical conduits.
  • Apply adhesives and mechanical fasteners in accordance with engineering drawings and military specifications.
  • Lay out installation locations using blueprints, work packages, or direction from supervisors.
  • Ensure proper alignment, bonding, and finish of tiles for long-lasting performance and structural integrity.
  • Prepare surfaces for installation, including cleaning and roughing as required.
  • Repair or replace damaged PCMS tiles and assist with tile removal as necessary.
  • Follow safety procedures and use PPE in confined spaces and elevated work areas.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and comply with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines and quality expectations are met.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of experience in marine insulation or shipboard PCMS tile installation preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, installation manuals, and job specifications.
  • Strong understanding of adhesives, fasteners, and insulation installation techniques.
  • Familiarity with tools used in tile work such as utility knives, straight edges, tape measures, drills, and adhesives.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, on ladders, scaffolding, and in variable shipboard environments.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working aboard Navy ships or submarines.
  • Knowledge of NAVSEA standards and military specifications for insulation work.
  • OSHA 10/30 Maritime, Confined Space, or Fire Watch certifications are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to craftsmanship.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in confined or elevated spaces in a shipyard environment.
