The Field Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of various commercial projects, simultaneously or intermittently as the case may be. The Field Manager works in partnership with the project teams and sub-contractors throughout the entire job (pre-install through post install) to make sure there is efficient allocation of materials and resources; they also strive to enhance the value of the business, ensure process efficiency and overall customer satisfaction.


Daily Responsibilities include:

  • Participate in kick off meeting-review job with sales, project managers and estimating to discuss the job and products prior to Pre-Con meeting.
  • Thoroughly reviews project plans and specifications, asks questions and proactively escalates potential issues to project teams.
  • Confirmation of accurate SOVs and Subcontractor acknowledgement at the start of the project/job.
  • Confirm job schedule and material delivery with project teams.
  • Work with Foreman prior to being onsite to determine what specialty products and tools may be required.
  • Organize and direct manpower requirements of subcontractors based on job requirements.
  • Schedule sub-contractor manpower daily, weekly and monthly – escalate any sub-contractor issues appropriately to ensure good communication across project team.
  • Responsible for managing the entire installation process, including punch list and project close out.
  • Organize and coordinate deliveries with Project Manager and Foreman. Confirm shipment is on delivery schedule.
  • Perform site inspections to confirm job conditions meet manufacturers specifications.
  • Review job with sub-contractor/installer daily.
  • Mandatory briefing with all crew chiefs after weekly jobsite meeting.
  • Provide technical assistance to sub-contractor/installer by interpreting blueprints, recommending work processes and understanding product installation instructions.
  • Look ahead to organize material, staffing and measure production (anticipate next month not just next week).
  • Visits job sites daily and check-in with GC contacts/onsite foreman (be seen and be heard).
  • Inspect quality of installer work (adhesives and sealers are being correctly used, seaming layouts are according to plan, tile layouts are according to plan, etc.).
  • Coordinate with project managers on progress of all jobs. Document job site updates/progress using ProCore Observations.
  • Work with PM to approve additional work. Initiate field change orders and have signed by superintendent.
  • Expedite/coordinate additional or missing material delivery to job site with PM.
  • Provide PM with verified installed quantities.
  • Ensure all post installation requirements are met (walk job to confirm quality of installation is up to Floors Etc. standards, prepare punch list of all remaining work, including clean up, transitions, etc.
  • Attend post job project meeting/lessons learned.
  • Communicate/follow-up with site superintendent to ensure they are satisfied and address any questions/issues.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities required for success:

  • Technical knowledge in the installation of ceramic/ stone, wood, vinyl and carpet.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with all levels within the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to effectively address operational issues that may impact the installation.
  • Ability to be proactive and also to foresee events and be proactive.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to different situations
  • Ability to work and carry-out projects within project scope and deadlines.
Requirements:

Education and Experience levels preferred:

  • 3-5 years field management experience to include management and oversight of sub-contractors.
  • Must be a subject matter expert in flooring products and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret project specifications and blueprints.
