What is a tile helper?

A Tile Helper assists tile setters with preparing surfaces, cutting tiles, mixing mortar, and cleaning up job sites. They help transport materials, lay out patterns, and ensure proper alignment. This entry-level position provides hands-on experience in tile installation and can lead to more advanced roles in the trade.

What does a tile helper do?

As a Tile Helper, your daily responsibilities usually include preparing surfaces, mixing mortar or grout, carrying materials, and assisting tile setters with laying and spacing tiles. You may help with cleaning up job sites, cutting tiles to fit specific spaces, and ensuring all tools and materials are organized and ready for use. The role involves regular collaboration with experienced tile installers and other construction crew members, which provides great opportunities for learning on the job. Over time, dedicated Tile Helpers can develop their skills and advance to more independent tile installation roles.

Do tile helpers make good money?

Tile helpers typically earn an hourly wage that is lower than experienced tile setters, often ranging from minimum wage to around $15-$20 per hour depending on location and experience. Advancement to a tile setter or gaining certifications can increase earning potential, and some work overtime or on projects that pay higher rates.

What skills and qualifications does a tile helper need?

To thrive as a Tile Helper, you should possess basic construction knowledge, physical stamina, and attention to detail, often gained through on-the-job experience or vocational training. Familiarity with hand tools such as tile cutters, trowels, and measuring tapes is important, and OSHA safety certification may be preferred by some employers. Strong communication, reliability, and a willingness to learn are valuable soft skills for supporting tile setters and working efficiently in a team. These skills ensure accurate, safe, and efficient completion of tile installation projects.

Interface is a global flooring and sustainability leader dedicated to rethinking how spaces work for people and the planet. Our portfolio includes Interface carpet tile and LVT, nora rubber flooring, and FLOR premium area rugs. Across every brand, we innovate in a way that combines design, performance, and sustainability-without compromise.

Trusted by architects, designers, and building professionals worldwide, we help bring bold visions to life with solutions that deliver real, measurable impact. Building on more than 30 years of sustainability progress and industryfirst innovation, we remain 'all in' on our goal of becoming carbon negative by 2040, without the use of offsets.

Interface is seeking a Studio Design Scheduler to coordinate and optimize workflow across the Interface Design Studio. This role ensures project requests from Sales and Marketing are prioritized, scheduled, and delivered in support of business performance and team efficiency.

Working in close partnership with the design team and a peer scheduler, this role evaluates incoming work, aligns priorities, and helps balance team capacity. Under the direction of the Design Studio Manager, the Studio Design Scheduler ensures projects progress smoothly from intake through completion.

Why this role:

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure to complex workflows, partnering with others to solve problems, and playing a central role in how work moves through a creative team. You won't be working in isolation, but rather as part of a small, collaborative scheduling team with shared ownership over how the studio operates and delivers on its goal of providing our customers with the highest level of design support.

Educational requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, communications, project management, or a related field

  • Equivalent experience in scheduling, traffic coordination, or project management may be considered

Experience requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in project coordination, scheduling, or a related role

  • Experience working in a creative, design, or production environment preferred

Skills needed:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal (English proficiency required)

  • Sound judgment in prioritization and decision-making within a fast-paced environment

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to review work for completeness and accuracy

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a small team and cross-functional environment

  • Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities

  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and making informed decisions with available information

  • Ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure, high-demand, fast-paced environment

  • Experience with workflow or project management tools (Salesforce or similar platforms) required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel)

  • Familiarity with design tools (AutoCAD, CET, Adobe Creative Suite) preferred

  • Experience reading and interpreting architectural plans and construction documents preferred

Key responsibilities:

  • Review and assess incoming project requests to confirm scope, completeness, and required deliverables

  • Assign and schedule work based on team capacity, deadlines, and project priorities

  • Partner closely with scheduling team to align on workload distribution, scheduling decisions, and evolving priorities

  • Collaborate with designers and Lead Studio Designers to maintain balanced workflows and ensure efficient resource utilization

  • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders on project status, timelines, and expectations

  • Ensure timely acknowledgment and assignment of all requests, including setting and managing turnaround expectations

  • Identify gaps in project scope and work with stakeholders to resolve before scheduling

  • Maintain visibility into active and upcoming work to proactively flag risks, bottlenecks, or capacity challenges

  • Support coordination across cross-functional teams, including Product Development, for projects requiring customization

  • Maintain scheduling tools, team calendars, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and transparency

  • Occasionally support basic project-related tasks (e.g., simple layouts and estimating) as needed

Work environment & expectations:

  • Predominantly open office environment with moderate exposure to manufacturing areas

  • Fast-paced, collaborative studio with multiple concurrent deadlines

  • Occasional travel between Atlanta and LaGrange locations (approximately 2 days per month)

  • Hybrid work schedule: minimum 3 days per week in office (Atlanta or LaGrange), with flexibility for remote work 2 days per week
