Job description

 Full-Time Floor Technician (Stripping & Waxing)

MUST BE AVAILABLE BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 3PM-3AM

Location: Detroit, MI

Primary Focus: Floor Care, Stripping, Waxing, Buffing, and Floor Maintenance

Job Function

As a Floor Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and restoring hard floor surfaces at various client locations throughout the Detroit area. This position requires expertise in floor stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, and general floor maintenance. You will travel between accounts as needed and ensure all flooring surfaces meet company quality standards.

Open Availability Required

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Strip, wax, seal, and refinish hard floor surfaces
  • Buff and burnish floors to maintain a clean, polished appearance
  • Operate and maintain floor care equipment, including buffers, burnishers, and auto-scrubbers
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean assigned areas
  • Remove and replace floor finish as needed
  • Perform routine floor maintenance and spot repairs
  • Follow all safety procedures and proper chemical handling guidelines
  • Maintain equipment and report maintenance needs
  • Travel to multiple job sites as required
  • Complete other floor care and cleaning duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous experience in floor stripping, waxing, buffing, and burnishing required
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel between work sites
  • Knowledge of floor care chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Reliability and strong attendance record
  • Professional demeanor and customer-service mindset
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous commercial floor care experience
  • Experience operating industrial floor equipment, including auto-scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors
  • Knowledge of various flooring types, including VCT, tile, concrete, and hardwood
  • Experience leading floor care crews or training team members
