What is a tile helper?

This entry-level position provides hands-on experience in tile installation and can lead to more advanced roles in the trade.

What does a tile helper do?

As a Tile Helper, your daily responsibilities usually include preparing surfaces, mixing mortar or grout, carrying materials, and assisting tile setters with laying and spacing tiles. You may help with cleaning up job sites, cutting tiles to fit specific spaces, and ensuring all tools and materials are organized and ready for use. The role involves regular collaboration with experienced tile installers and other construction crew members, which provides great opportunities for learning on the job. Over time, dedicated Tile Helpers can develop their skills and advance to more independent tile installation roles.

Do tile helpers make good money?

Tile helpers typically earn an hourly wage that is lower than experienced tile setters, often ranging from minimum wage to around $15-$20 per hour depending on location and experience. These skills ensure accurate, safe, and efficient completion of tile installation projects.
