Skilled welders with certifications and specialized tools tend to earn higher pay, especially in manufacturing, construction, or aerospace sectors.

What does a TIG welder do?

A TIG (tungsten inert gas) welder is a welding professional who specializes in using TIG arc welding equipment. A welder is someone who is highly skilled at joining pieces of metal for construction and manufacturing purposes. These joints must be very strong and highly accurate. A TIG welder uses an arc welder fueled by tungsten inert gas to perform a process known as GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding). This is usually used to join thin, non-ferrous metals, like stainless steel.

What is a TIG welder?

TIG welders are skilled tradespeople who use Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding to join metal parts together, primarily using a non-consumable tungsten electrode and a shielding gas, often argon. TIG welding is valued for its precision and ability to produce clean, high-quality welds on a variety of metals, including stainless steel and aluminum. TIG welders work in industries such as manufacturing, construction, automotive, and aerospace, often interpreting blueprints and ensuring welds meet strict specifications. This role requires careful hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, and knowledge of safety procedures.
