Job Description: Field Technician III (Gunter Annex)
Location: Gunter Annex, Maxwell AFB, AL
Clearance Requirement: Secret Clearance
Certification Requirement: DoD 8140 Compliance
Experience Level: Mid-Level (3-5 years of experience)
Overview: The Field Technician III will provide technical support and maintenance for a variety of IT systems and equipment at Gunter Annex. The role involves installation, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware and software, supporting daily operational requirements, and providing end-user support for mission-critical systems. This position requires the ability to work independently and in a team environment to ensure smooth operational functionality of IT systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain IT hardware and software systems, including servers, desktops, printers, and networking equipment.
  • Perform routine diagnostics and preventive maintenance on IT infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Provide technical support to users and respond to service requests via ticketing systems (such as ServiceNow).
  • Coordinate with vendors for repair services and replacement of faulty equipment.
  • Document and update technical procedures and user manuals.
  • Ensure all systems are compliant with DoD cybersecurity and configuration standards.
  • Perform system backups and restore operations as needed.
  • Assist with system upgrades and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.
  • Support Virtual Private Network (VPN), wireless network configurations, and other specialized systems.
  • Conduct site surveys and assessments for IT equipment installations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance.
  • DoD 8140 Certification: Required (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field technician or IT support role.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware/software/networking issues.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking, and system configurations.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems like ServiceNow.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with virtual desktop environments (VDI) and remote access configurations.
  • Knowledge of military IT systems and protocols.
  • CompTIA Network+ or other relevant certifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
