Salary Range Starting At: $12 hour/ per hour
Job Description:
As the Store Associate, you will help facilitate the effective and efficient day-to-day operation of the Thrift Store, ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
  • Greet potential customers being friendly, responsive, and helpful.
  • Assist donors, potential donors, and shoppers in a friendly respectful manner. Receive donations and provide receipts for donated goods to the donor.
  • Sort, clean, display, store, and price donated items according to store procedures. There will be specific attention to seasonal items and bric-a-brac.
  • Keep the sorting, storage and receiving areas clean and orderly. Make sure floors are swept clean and clear of debris, and trash is disposed of properly.
  • Pull, remove, and recycle expired color of the week items according to store procedures.
  • Assist with the bailing operation. Training and familiarity with the baler will be part of orientation. Heavy lifting is required.
  • Learn and adhere to store policies and procedures.
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience: None required, but experience in retail marketing and sales preferred.
Certifications: Must complete mandatory Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
  • Able to interact positively with the public and with donors.
  • Able to work well as part of a team.

Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibilities.
