Job description

What You'll Lead
As Thrift Store Assistant Manager, you help keep our Gonzales store running smoothly so every sale can support our mission. You'll partner with the Store Manager to coordinate daily store operations, guide team members/volunteers/community service workers, and ensure strong sales and cashiering coverage-including stepping in at the register when needed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee front-end activity, cash handling, and customer/donor service standards
- Support staffing coverage, floor readiness, and adherence to store procedures
- Address customer concerns with calm, fair conflict resolution
- Use POS tools and basic computer programs to complete routine reporting and tasks
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- 2+ years retail experience (sales/cashiering); supervisory experience preferred
- Working knowledge of POS systems, Excel, and Word; strong problem-solving
- Professional appearance; flexibility for weekdays plus weekend/holiday needs
- Respect for the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church and St. Vincent de Paul
Apply today to bring steady leadership and compassionate service to our store.
A Typical Shift
You open with a quick walkthrough-checking the front end, donation flow, and what the sales floor needs most. The day moves between the register area, the floor, and the back-of-house, staying visible and approachable as questions come in. You'll balance quick decisions with a steady, respectful tone-especially when a customer or donor needs extra patience. Midday may include light computer work (simple entries, label/barcode tasks, or POS checks), then back to the floor as traffic picks up. Expect plenty of standing and walking in a retail/warehouse setting, with the flexibility to adjust when priorities shift.
Support That Sustains
Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance; 401(k); Life Insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA); Paid Time Off; and Employee Discounts.
