What is a three month contract?

A three month contract job is a temporary employment agreement where an individual is hired to work for a company or organization for a fixed period of three months. These positions often arise to meet short-term needs, such as covering employee absences, handling seasonal workloads, or completing specific projects. Contract workers may receive similar duties as permanent employees, but their benefits and job security can differ. At the end of the contract, the position typically ends, though sometimes contracts are extended or renewed based on company needs and worker performance.

What should I expect in terms of onboarding and integration when joining a team on a three-month contract?

When joining a team on a three-month contract, onboarding is typically condensed to help you become productive as quickly as possible. You can expect a focused orientation on essential tools, project goals, and immediate priorities, often with a designated point of contact or mentor for quick questions. Since the timeline is short, clear communication and proactive engagement are key to integrating smoothly with the team and meeting project milestones. You'll likely participate in regular team meetings, collaborate closely with full-time staff, and may be asked to provide status updates more frequently to ensure alignment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a three-month contract position, and why are they important?

To thrive in a three-month contract position, you need relevant expertise in the specific field, a proven track record of quickly adapting to new environments, and any required certifications or education for the role. Familiarity with industry-standard tools or software—such as project management platforms, data analysis tools, or CRM systems—may be necessary depending on the contract's focus. Strong organizational skills, proactive communication, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for short-term success. These competencies enable you to deliver results swiftly, integrate smoothly with teams, and maximize your impact during the limited contract period.

Job description

ABOUT VEG

In 2014, VEG was born with a mission to help people and their pets when they need it most by challenging norms and fixing the ER experience. Since then, we've expanded rapidly, with hospitals nationwide open 24/7/365, and created an ER experience that focuses on what our pets and pet parents really need. We've done the same for our people (VEGgies), finding a way to say YES so they are empowered to achieve great things, grow in unexpected ways, and find a place where they truly belong.

We're rethinking emergency care from every angle-from how we run our hospitals to how we support the people working inside them. That's where our headquarters team comes in. Whether building technology to make our hospitals more efficient, recruiting and growing incredible VEGgies, or bringing our brand to life through marketing, our VQ (VEG Headquarters) team makes it all possible-ensuring our hospitals and people have everything they need to help pets and their families.

VEG is a 2025 and 2026 certified Great Place to Work.

THE JOB

At VEG, we find a way to say YES-and this role is about bringing that mindset to how we build exceptional teams.

As a Contract Sourcing Manager, you'll partner closely with Talent Managers and Recruiting Leadership to proactively build talent pipelines that keep VEG ahead of hiring demand. You'll identify and engage exceptional passive talent, leverage modern sourcing strategies and recruiting technology, and deliver an outstanding candidate experience that reflects the VEG brand.

This is an 8 month contract with the opportunity to make an immediate impact while contributing to the continued evolution of our centralized sourcing function. If you're energized by solving difficult hiring challenges, building relationships, and continuously improving the way recruiting gets done, we'd love to meet you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Build proactive talent pipelines through direct sourcing, referrals, networking, market mapping, and creative sourcing strategies for critical hiring needs.
  • Partner with Talent Managers to develop sourcing strategies, prioritize searches, and provide labor market insights that improve hiring outcomes.
  • Engage passive candidates through thoughtful outreach while delivering an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Utilize recruiting technology, CRM platforms, AI-enabled tools, and market data to improve sourcing effectiveness and optimize pipeline health.
  • Contribute to sourcing best practices, process improvements, and cross-functional Talent Acquisition initiatives.
  • Build trusted partnerships across Recruiting, Talent Managers, and business leaders to support enterprise hiring priorities.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 3+ years of sourcing or recruiting experience in a fast-paced, high-growth, or multi-site organization.
  • Demonstrated success building passive candidate pipelines through direct sourcing, networking, referrals, and Boolean search techniques.
  • Experience managing multiple searches while balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder partnership skills.
  • Experience with ATS and CRM platforms such as Greenhouse, Gem, Workday, or similar recruiting technologies.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset with a passion for solving recruiting challenges.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Empathetic, instinctively taking a people-centric approach, whether supporting your colleagues or making an effort to understand different perspectives
  • Have a sense of humility; acknowledging mistakes, sharing credit with others, and lifting up your team's accomplishments
  • Feel a strong sense of ownership over your work, taking responsibility for outcomes and staying committed to achieving long-term, impactful results
  • Curious by nature; you ask insightful questions and continuously seek out opportunities to learn and grow your skills and knowledge
  • Relationship-driven and passionate about creating exceptional candidate experiences.
  • Accountable and proactive, taking ownership from start to finish.
  • Excited by technology and AI while keeping people at the center of recruiting.

HOW WE INVEST IN YOU

  • This is an 8-month, salaried contract position. The bi-weekly salary range for this role is $3,200-$4,000, depending on relevant experience, skills, and geographic location.
  • Opportunity to make an immediate impact on a growing Talent Acquisition team.
  • Exposure to enterprise sourcing strategy and cross-functional Talent Acquisition initiatives.
  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture that values curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement.

DEI

At VEG, diversity is not just a word-it's a strength that fuels innovation and kindness. Our mission is "Helping people and their pets when they need it most." And we do that better when our VEGgies (employees) feel valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. That's why we're devoted to creating an environment that reflects the diverse communities we serve-where different perspectives are not only welcomed but celebrated.

We are focused on providing equitable opportunities for growth, promoting inclusive decision-making, and ensuring that everyone's perspective is considered. Saying yes to VEG means helping us build a culture where your unique experiences and background contribute to a shared vision: being the world's veterinary emergency company.
