Embroidery Machine Operator (Textile Production / Apparel Decoration)

Location: Chicago, IL
Job Type: Full-Time, Temp to Hire.
Pay: $16.50 – $20.50 per hour
Benefits: Health Insurance
Work Location: On-site

Available Shifts:
1st - 6AM to 02:30PM
2nd - 4PM to 12:30AM

Job Overview
Our client, a growing custom embroidery and apparel decoration company, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Embroidery Machine Operator to join their production team.
In this role, you will operate and maintain commercial embroidery machines to produce high-quality embroidered designs on garments and other textile products. This position is ideal for individuals with experience in industrial embroidery, textile production, garment decoration, or sewing machine operation.
Candidates with experience in stitch cording, braids, emblems, puff embroidery, or metallic thread are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
  • Operate and monitor commercial embroidery machines to produce embroidered designs on garments and textiles
  • Calibrate machine settings including thread tension, speed, and stitch patterns
  • Load, unload, and register embroidery jobs according to daily production schedules
  • Select and prepare appropriate needles, threads, and bobbins for each project
  • Perform embroidery work by hand when required
Production & Order Completion
  • Review work orders to determine design placement, thread color, fabric type, and production specifications
  • Follow the internal production schedule to ensure timely order completion
  • Work closely with supervisors and team leads to meet daily production goals
Quality Control
  • Inspect embroidery work to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency
  • Identify and correct issues such as jump stitches, thread breaks, or design misalignment
  • Repair defective embroidery when necessary
Equipment Maintenance
  • Monitor machines during operation to detect mechanical issues
  • Perform basic maintenance such as cleaning, oiling, and minor adjustments
  • Report equipment problems or recurring issues to the supervisor
Communication & Team Collaboration
  • Communicate job status and production updates with team members and management
  • Report production errors, defects, or delays promptly
  • Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced production environment
Workstation Organization
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation at all times
  • Ensure tools, threads, and supplies are properly stored and accessible
  • Notify supervisors when supplies need to be replenished
