Job description

The Laser Blanking Line Operator sets up, operates and monitors the laser blanking line. This role is responsible for safely creating blanks to customer specifications. In order to be successful, you should be safety-focused and detail oriented. Our Laser Blanking Line is one of our offerings we are most proud of. Friday-Sunday: 5:00 a.m.-3:30p.m. Starting pay $18.75-$23.75

How you’ll contribute to our company:

  • Reconcile coil identity to production schedule
  • Check and record gauge, width, hardness, camber, burr, and surface requirement and ensure compliance with customer and production requirements
  • Program the laser, import part information, check laser heads, etc.
  • Thread coil thru uncoiler, leveler/flattener, feed unit
  • Monitor condition of blanks to ensure compliance with customer requirements and production instructions
  • Adjust laser setup as needed for quality
  • Remove scrap and empty hoppers as necessary
  • Assist maintenance to troubleshoot malfunctions or complete preventative maintenance as necessary
  • Communicate non-compliance or quality problems to supervisor and/or shift lead
  • Clean and maintain housekeeping of area

  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
  • Knowledge of raw materials (steel and aluminum), blanking processes, and quality standards
  • Knowledge of the laser blanking line including its major components and limitations
  • Ability to accurately use tape measures, Rockwell tester, digital calipers, digital/dial indicators, height gauge, computer, part specific gauges and micrometers
  • Ability to read and understand material tags and production instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to see details at close range
