Pipefitter

  • Experience performing Industrial Projects required (Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Heavy Industrial)
  • NCCER strongly preferred
  • Ability to lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and industrial production, and processing systems,
  • Apply knowledge of system operation and follow blueprints.
  • Ability to read P&IDs and ISOs
  • Select type and size of pipe and related materials and equipment.
  • Must be able to perform basic rigging practices as well as flagging practices based on OSHA 1926.1428. Must be able to safely use hand and power tools. Must be able to work safely and follow Company and site safety policies.

  • Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipes will not cause structural weakness.
  • Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.
  • Cut pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer, and chisel, cutting torch, and/or pipe cutting machine.
  • Thread pipe, using pipe threading machine and bend pipe, using pipe bending tools and pipe bending machine.
  • Assemble and install a variety of metal and non-metal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, copper, and plastic. Connect pipes.
  • Secure pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Install and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment, and refrigeration and air-conditioning systems.
  • Increase pressure in pipe system and observe connected pressure gauge to test system for leaks.

Additional Functions

  • Monitor and maintain building systems as assigned.
  • Execute various minor construction projects as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice, to meet businesses' needs.
  • Maintain equipment & clean around workstations.
  • Interface with supervisor &/or manager to give progress updates as required.
  • Able to work outdoors in the elements.
  • Work in tight spaces - physically able to climb up and down safely in proximity of manufacturing and process equipment.
  • Elevated work > 4' - fall protection required.

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • NCCER is strongly preferred.
