Job description

AA Anchor Bolt, Inc., a family-owned bolt manufacturer in Northville, MI has immediate openings for full-time Machine Operator/General Laborers. We are not looking for job seekers; we want a mechanically minded, driven, passionate challenge seeker for our expanding business.

Machine Operator/General Laborer are responsible for various duties in the day-to-day operations of AA Anchor Bolt, Inc. It all starts with a team player with a good attitude that can read and comprehend job sheets. This is a production shop where accuracy matters as 1 missing bolt can hold up an entire job for our customers. Attention to detail is paramount both from a safety standpoint and for quality control. In this position you will use a myriad of machines such as cut/roll threaders, iron workers, bar shear, saws, chamfer, benders, as well as other hand tools to manufacture, assemble and package anchor bolts. If you bring a can-do attitude and the will to learn, we will train you with the skill!

Physical & Cognitive Demands:

  • Must be able to walk long distances on sometimes uneven terrain
  • Must be able to work in a standing position for extended periods as well as kneel, bend, crouch, and reach overhead.
  • Must possess the ability to repeatedly lift and move material - up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess high levels of fine motor skills, visual acuity, auditory, and cognitive attention to details to produce and inspect work and operate machinery safely.

Competencies:

  • Must understand basic math including fractions
  • Ability to use various measuring tools
  • Proficient in English
  • Ability to work independently or with a team, with or without direct supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain professionalism and accuracy under pressure
  • Must have great hands-on problem-solving skills - communicate facts and provide recommendations in written or oral form.
  • Ability to maintain positive relations within all levels of the organization
  • Must be organized and adaptable - Tasks may change based on shop needs, without notice

Expectations:

  • Possess a valid driver's license or state issued ID
  • Must possess valid authorization to work for any U.S. employer
  • Punctuality is required – Ready to work when the bell rings
  • Must have your own reliable transportation
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as industry demands it, sometimes with little notice
  • Must maintain clean and well-organized work environment
  • Use of shop tablet and shop computers to log job time and photograph material
  • Must carry a 25' tape measure, a pocketknife or box cutter, and wear steel toe or composite toe shoes or boots daily

Preferred – Willingness and Ability to Learn is Required:

  • Experience using electrical or manual tools (bolt threader, saws, bar shear, benders, impacts, etc.
