Job Summary:
Processing of high-quality oil country tubular goods (OCTG) threaded products in conformance with API specifications. Maintaining or exceeding production quota on schedule. Inspects threaded ends of downhole casing and couplings (OCTG) to verify conformance with API and/or customer specifications. Works closely with the CNC operator as a key part of our production line. Serve as the frontline agent of production and machine operation for the company's threading department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate threaded products using a variety of gauges and measuring devices to determine compliance to industry (API 5CT, 5B) and customer requirements.
  • Inspects threads on joints of steel casings to detect defects and to determine conformance to specified tolerances in taper, lead, and threads per inch, using precision gauges and instruments: Measures machined threads and outside diameter of pipes to determine thread size, taper, threads per inch and size of pipe using thread gauge and micrometer.
  • Determines whether combinations of thread elements will form joints capable of withstanding weight of entire string of piping in well and of preventing entrance of outside fluids or gases, applying knowledge of standard and obsolete thread forms.
  • Maintain precision measuring devices properly to ensure flawless operation.
  • Complete and update all applicable records ensuring information accuracy.
  • Proactively suggest improvements and participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace.
  • Complete and distribute reports.

Previous quality assurance experience. Pipe related manufacturing experience a plus. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment. Must have safety as a priority. Excellent attendance, good work ethic, willing to stand for long periods of time. Able to work overtime and willing to do work that is repetitive in nature. High level of initiative, critical thinking, problem analysis and resolution skills. Excellent organizational and interpersonal relations skills; strong internal and external client focus. Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Familiarity with care and use of MRP, taper, thread height, lead, profile, and ring gauges. Familiarity with tolerances and dimensions of API 8RD, buttress connections. Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills. Strong decision making and problem solving skills. Ability to multi-task in fast-paced dynamic environment. Have the knowledge of how and where to find the dimensions and tolerances for the type of material to be inspected.
