Job description

Position Summary

The Theatre Technician helps support the technical and accessibility aspects of theatre productions. Operate and support Majestic Theatre technical systems during rehearsals and performances, including sound, lighting, video, projectors, and production management. Maintain Corvallis Access Media inventory. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties.

Part-time, non-represented, casual position

Approximately 10-15 hours/week

Day/Evening/Weekend schedule

Essential Duties

Assists with the operation and maintenance of the theatre technical operating systems including sound, stage lighting, house lighting, video, projectors, stage rigging and curtains under the direction of the Lead Theatre Technician, Stage Manager, or other staff.
Maintains the Corvallis Access Media inventory, computer systems and data management.
Supports other production needs ranging from scenic, props, hair, makeup, costumes, and production management.
Assists with theatre workshop area maintenance, including inventory, cleaning, and storage of supplies.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience
One year related work experience in theatre or event services or any combination of education and experience that provides the employee with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of work-related safety practices, OSHA and environmental rules and regulations, particularly in regards to work in theatre environment and/or hazardous conditions.
Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instruction and to exchange routine information. Basic understanding of simple work processes, methods or equipment. Ability to learn job-related information and techniques.
Ability to learn required physical skills, that must be performed in the course of regular work routines that can be learned on the job over a relatively short period of time.
Effective communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Ability to use ordinary conversational skills and courtesy to exchange routine information and provide routine assistance.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, but also work alone at a work-site, under supervisory direction while performing duties thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with Department policy.
Ability to get along well with coworkers and maintain effective work relationships.
Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment.
Ability to deliver excellent customer service to a diverse customer population.

Working knowledge of safe work practices.
Requires an understanding of standardized rules, regulations and instructions. Deviations from standard procedures generally require approval of the supervisor.
Special Requirements
Certified in CPR/AED and first aid.
Must be able to work in conjunction with the performance and rental schedule which may include holidays, evenings and weekends as needed throughout the year.
