POSITION SUMMARY

- Summary:
- The Staff Physical Therapist is responsible and accountable for providing physical therapy evaluation and treatment for patients of Decatur County Memorial Hospital. He or she may treat pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The Staff Physical Therapist directs and supervises patients who are treated by physical therapy assistants and complies with all policies and procedures in the Physical Therapy Department and Decatur County Memorial Hospital. Job duties include: patient assessment, writing plans of treatment, administration of therapeutic exercise, use of modalities, supervision, and community/patient education.
- Work Schedule:
- May work 8 to 10-hour days between the hours of 7:30 am to 6 pm. Weekend coverage and holidays is also expected on a rotational basis. Must be able to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends.
- SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Education
- Minimum of Bachelor's Degree from a University or College with an accredited Physical Therapy Program.
- Experience
- One to two years of related experience
- Computer Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital for your area of responsibility.
- Certificates & Licenses
- Must possess a valid Indiana driver's license and have a good driving record. Current State of Indiana license in Physical Therapy. BLS Certification also required.
- Other Requirements
- Twenty-two (22) hours of continuing competency activities are required each licensure renewal period. This position requires the ability to stand and walk frequently, use hands and fingers, squat, kneel or bend frequently, and lift or move more than 50 pounds.
- Essential Functions

- Will demonstrate good time management skills in order to provide good customer service and enhance productivity.
- Will be able to complete initial Physical therapy evaluations and develop an appropriate Plan of Care.
- Will provide efficient and appropriate treatment to patients according to evaluation findings and Plan of Care, including appropriate use of modalities.
- Will provide accurate and timely documentation according to state and federal guidelines and payer requirements.
- Supervise PTA(s) per state law regulations.
- Submits billing accurately on a daily basis.
- Assist in the Accrediting Agency and State Board of Health preparation, survey, and interview.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures and participate with departmental performance improvement functions.
- Will attend 80% of departmental monthly meetings.
- Will give at least one educational presentation to members of other hospital departments, support groups, or other community organizations.
- Will perform at least two peer chart reviews per year.
- Will participate in at least two marketing efforts for his/her designated profession and/or Rehabilitation Services.
