Purpose of Role:

Reporting to the Ranch Manager, the Ranch Maintenance Hand will be responsible for operating and maintaining the operational condition of the ranch equipment, ranch housing, water systems, infrastructure, and landscaping.


ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provides general care to livestock by feeding, providing directed health care, and assisting with breeding, calving, and selling animals.
  • Herding, handling, transporting, feeding, watering, branding, protecting, shoeing, and raising ranch livestock.
  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on ranch housing, water distribution systems, landscaping, and general physical infrastructure.
  • Safely operating light vehicles and ranch machinery such as pick-up trucks, tractors, water buffalo, cattle trailers, by obeying applicable traffic laws, following operator instructions, and wearing appropriate safety equipment such as goggles, gloves, or other protective clothing.
  • Safely operates various types of farm equipment such as post augers, post drivers, portable power tools such as gasoline-operated power tools, sprayers, trimmers, and chain saws, electrically operated drills and saws, and gas or electrically operated welders by following operator instructions and wearing appropriate safety equipment such as goggles, gloves, or other protective clothing.
  • Maintaining ranch equipment, corrals, buildings, facilities, grazing lands, and property in an orderly, clean and safe manner.
  • Constructing new, or repairing existing, fences
  • Maintenance of all associated infrastructure
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Handyman and carpentry skills are required.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • Education: A high school education or the equivalent is required
  • Experience: At least three years of experience working on a farm or ranch and performing work such as caring for livestock, fixing fences, cutting trees, mowing, and baling hay, etc. Experience in operating and maintaining farm equipment, such as tractors, mowers, chain saws, etc. is required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
