Part-Time Assistant Strength Coach | Performance Lab at Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic
Reports to: Director of Strength & Performance

About Us:

The Orthopaedic & Fracture Clinic (OFC) is a physician-owned clinic dedicated to excellence in orthopedic care. As part of our commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and athletic performance, OFC has launched the Performance Lab - a state-of-the-art sports enhancement facility that bridges high-level strength training and rehabilitative care for athletes and active individuals.

About the Role:

The Part-Time Assistant Strength Coach supports the daily training operations of the Performance Lab. This position assists in delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based strength and conditioning programming to athletes of all levels. Under the supervision of the Director of Strength & Performance, this role supports coaching, facility upkeep, and client management.

Responsibilities (Occupational Exposure):

  • Assist in coaching warmups, lifts, movement drills, and conditioning sessions under supervision.
  • Help monitor exercise technique and cue proper form and progression.
  • Set up and clean up equipment before and after training sessions.
  • Track attendance and basic performance metrics as directed.
  • Maintain a safe and positive training environment for all participants.
  • Uphold performance and safety standards, especially with youth and high school athletes.
  • Adhere to all OFC safety protocols including those for cleaning, injury reporting, and facility operations.

General Responsibilities (Non-Occupational Exposure):

  • Assist with facility organization, cleanliness, and readiness.
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and other staff.
  • Collaborate with physical therapy and clinical staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the director.

Location & Commitments:

  • Location: 1431 Premier Drive | Mankato, MN 56001
  • Schedule: Variable weekday shifts, including early morning or evening hours
  • Must reliably commute

Candidate Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a bachelor's program in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • Must hold (or be actively pursuing) a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa-SCCC, NASM-PES).
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • Ability to physically demonstrate exercises and safely spot athletes.
  • Must be able to alternately lift, carry, bend, squat, kneel, and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage positively with student-athletes and staff.
  • Commitment to professionalism, punctuality, and continued learning.
