Part-Time Mini-Golf Attendant — The Inn at Canaan ValleyCome work in beautiful Canaan Valley at the newly restored Inn at Canaan Valley! It's an exciting time to join us — we're a growing property, building luxury suites and luxury cabins right on site, and we're adding great people to our hospitality team as we go.
Here's the thing we really care about: Do you love being around people? Do you like ending a shift knowing you made someone's day a little better? Our team is all about delivering exceptional guest experiences, and we're looking for someone awesome to join us. If that sounds like you… we want to hear from you!
We're hiring a hardworking, Part-Time Mini-Golf Attendant to join the team.
Compensation: $12.00–$15.00 per hour (based on experience)
As a Mini-Golf Attendant, you'll handle all the merchandise and mini-golf sales, serve up food and drinks to guests at the concession stand, and keep everyone smiling with great customer service. You'll also help keep play moving on the course so everyone gets the most out of their round.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll be the friendly face who greets visitors, points them in the right direction, and answers their questions. You'll keep the course safe — making sure folks are playing by the rules and looking out for one another — and you'll keep the course and restrooms clean and stocked throughout your shift and after closing (think sweeping, restocking supplies, and staying on top of trash).
You'll also help run the fun stuff: supervising birthday parties, group outings, and other rentals, and planning and leading appropriate program activities. You'll answer the phone and share info about the facility's operations, activities, and functions, and you'll set out and look after the supplies and equipment, making sure everything's working the way it should.
And when it counts, you'll be ready: responding quickly and calmly to keep guests safe in an emergency, following proper emergency procedures, and administering first aid if it's needed. Other related tasks will come up here and there, as they always do.
What We're Looking For
Ideally you have a general sense of how a facility like this runs, the safety precautions that go with it, and what good customer service looks and feels like. You're comfortable and genuinely good with people of all ages and backgrounds, and you enjoy working with children and families.
You're someone who can handle moderate physical work, stay calm and effective when things get stressful, and follow safety and security procedures (and help enforce the rules) without missing a beat. You communicate clearly and courteously — in person, on the phone, and in writing — with a good grasp of English, and you can follow written and spoken instructions, record information accurately, and handle basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing).
Just as important, you set a good example and promote responsible behavior, you help make the experience fun and positive for everyone, and you work well as part of a team. We're looking for reliable, dependable, punctual folks who bring adaptability, creativity, and real enthusiasm to the job — and who carry themselves with honesty, initiative, and a service-first attitude. In short, someone who builds good working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, guests, and everyone else they meet on the job.
You'll also want to be willing to work within the policies and guidelines set by the Inn and Up To Par.
Physical Demands
This is an active, on-your-feet role. Throughout a shift you'll regularly walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull, bend, and reach with your hands and arms. You'll use your hands for grasping, fingering, repetitive movements, and the fine coordination it takes to operate a phone or equipment. You'll regularly lift, carry, or move objects up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds, and you may occasionally spend short stretches in awkward positions. Clear speaking and good hearing are needed to exchange information and instructions accurately — in person and by phone, sometimes loudly or quickly — and good visual acuity is needed for operating equipment, reading written or computer data, inspecting small details, checking the accuracy of work, and keeping an eye on your surroundings.
Work Environment
You'll be working outdoors, so expect the full range of seasonal conditions: sun and heat (above 100 degrees for stretches of more than an hour), adverse weather, wetness and slippery surfaces, humidity, dust and dirt, fumes, insect bites and stings, garbage, and the other distractions that come with a park setting. You may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and allergenic substances, as well as blood and body fluids when rendering first aid, and you may be asked to wear specialized personal protective equipment. Occasionally you may work near moving mechanical parts, and noise on the course can get loud enough that you'll sometimes have to raise your voice to be heard. You may also interact with distressed or upset guests or staff while interpreting and enforcing policies.
