Job description

WHAT WE DO AND WHO WE ARE:

At Yamaha Marine Precision Propellers, we work as a team to manufacturer boat propellers using an investment casting process. We make high quality products while supporting our teams and local communities by providing great careers in a safe, respectful, and innovative environment.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Grind Operator is responsible grinding the surface of castings using a combination of floor grinders and precision hand tools. In addition, the Grind Operator is responsible for performing final inspections.

Starting $18.50 per hour with potential for growth based on experience.

Attendance incentives are available up to $160 per two-week period.

This position is on first shift working Monday - Friday from 6AM - 2:30PM.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate grinding machines to shape and finish metal propellers
  • Set up machines according to job specifications
  • Adjust machine settings to ensure accuracy
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality specifications
  • Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn parts
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain quality
  • Follow safety procedures, including wearing PPE and adhering to lockout/tagout protocols
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED/High School equivalency
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to stand and hold 40+ pound parts and lift them to a shoulder level height
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting with a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate various grinders and finishing hand tools
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Basic math and reasoning ability
  • Must be a team player
