Team Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join our Office of the General Counsel with specialized experience in employment law and data privacy and protection. This role will serve as a strategic legal advisor on complex workforce matters, data compliance issues, and other legal representation matters, supporting our mission-driven organization in maintaining the highest standards of legal and ethical compliance, across our global organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist General Counsel in leading efforts to provide core legal services to ADF and its subsidiary entities.
  • Provide strategic legal counsel on all aspects of the employment lifecycle, including compliance with global, state, and federal laws and regulations; conduct internal investigations; draft and negotiate employment-related agreements and policies; advise on compensation practices; and provide relevant legal support to HR, leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage litigation and disputes directly or indirectly involving ADF corporate entities or officers as parties, including employment-related matters, working with outside counsel, as appropriate.
  • Advise on data privacy, protection, and security matters to ensure global compliance.
  • Proactively protect ADF corporate entities from legal and non-legal threats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, IT, Finance, Development, and program teams.
  • Provide training to team members in relevant areas.
  • Interact with outside counsel, as necessary.
  • Stay current on legal developments affecting the ministry and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
  • Handle special projects assigned by the General Counsel.

Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D., active license in at least one US state bar, and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction within one year
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to travel overnight and international travel, as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house experience and big law background
  • Global employment law experience
  • Experience in international regulatory law
