At Garrett Popcorn Shops, the cooks are the star of the show! Our cooks turn our ingredients into our famous handcrafted recipes, including the Garrett Mix - the original Chicago-style popcorn. Each day, our cooks continue the Garrett tradition by cooking popcorn in small batches. They take great pride in supporting an efficient kitchen operation which delivers top quality Garrett Popcorn. The cook is responsible for creating these beloved recipes and maintaining all ingredient and recipe stock levels to ensure there is a steady supply of Garrett Popcorn for each guest.

Responsibilities

  • Smile, have fun, and maintain a positive, upbeat attitude
  • Be a team player, ready to assist the store operations to better serve our customers
  • Follow all recipes with no variation to ensure Garrett Popcorn Shops is always serving the highest quality recipes
  • Ensure product quality, freshness, and presentation meet the Garrett Popcorn Shops standards
  • Maintains cooking production procedures to match fast-paced environment
  • Facilitate all kitchen prep, setup, cleaning, and take down daily to support safe and efficient recipe production
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines
  • Taste product frequently to ensure each recipe meets the expected flavor profile
  • Execute equipment preventive maintenance routines to ensure effective functionality
  • Ensure FIFO rotation of all ingredients and prepared product
  • Accurately log recipe production, ingredient inventory, and quality assurance checks
  • Actively work to minimize waste of all ingredients and recipes
  • Ensures the store is clean, presentable to customers, and always stocked with ingredients and recipes needed to support the customer demand
  • Work quickly while serving customers in a friendly and efficient manner

Physical Demands

  • Standing a minimum of 6 hours per day
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, and occasionally lift 50 pounds

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Works with a sense of urgency to match the business needs
  • Experience with food prep in a fast-paced environment is preferred but not necessary
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed

·        Must have the ability to get badged by The Chicago Department of Aviation, which includes a federal background check, as well as maintaining the badge.

Benefits at NorthAmerican Concessions

Health Insurance, Dental Insurance and Vision Insurance are offered after employees pass their 90-day probationary period, and if elected, it will begin on the first day of the month following the passage of the probationary period.

PTO (Paid Time Off): Employees will receive 80 hours of PTO after accruing a full year of full-time service. Employees are permitted to begin using accrued PTO time after they work a minimum of six (6) months. PTO will increase at the five (5) year mark and at the ten (10) year mark.

Paid Sick Time: Employees receive 40 hours of Paid Sick Time per year and they are permitted to start using it after they pass their 90-day probationary period.
