Garrett Advancing Motion is the true pioneer of automotive powertrain technologies dating back more than 70 years. It continues today as the world's leader in technology solutions for passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and off-highway equipment. Garrett supplies technology to nearly all major automakers in addition to the global aftermarket under the Garrett brand name. As a result, unlike many other OEM or supplier organizations, Garrett Advancing Motion has visibility across a broad range of OEM's and Tier 1 suppliers.
The Sales Manager role encompasses global sales management with end-to-end ownership of a customer account, including responsibility for new business pursuits, customer P&L, strategy development, and financial targets. Key duties include leading new business pursuits, managing cost risks, customer satisfaction, and setting long-term strategies while ensuring alignment with management and team objectives. The role requires commercial oversight of projects from concept to launch, reporting activities, and removing performance barriers. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree and over three years of automotive experience, alongside proven negotiation skills, commercial acumen and the ability to operate within a matrix organization.
Responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for Customer P&L & Strategy
    • Lead pursuits of new business opportunities in core business and hunt for business opportunities in new technology offerings. This will require building relationships at customers which may not currently exist.
    • Meet aggressive financial targets and support P&L improvement of the account.
    • Responsible for strategy development worldwide of the account, risks and cost management as well as new business development.
    • Drive customer satisfaction: quality, delivery, technology deployment, pricing strategy.
    • Support development of 5-year account strategy, gain management agreement, and support team objectives accordingly.
    • Responsible to support Annual Operating Plan (AOP), 5-year strategic plan (STRAP).
    • Communicate precisely and objectively with functional leaders and other business teams to get their support in meeting your objectives, standardize processes and best practices sharing.
  • Cross Functional & Team Management
    • Report Team activities and action plans monthly, as well as key issues each week.
    • Remove barriers to performance by implementing robust management processes, tools and resources.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in automotive industry.
  • 3+ years experience in a selling-related position with increasing responsibility.

Additional Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Successful track record in customer negotiations and strategy development.
  • Proven ability to successfully work within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Ability to maintain excellent customer relations.
