Job description

LIV Development seeks a highly motivated and experienced Creative Director to oversee the architectural design direction and creative vision for its multifamily developments. This position lives at the intersection of innovation, design, and strategic execution, guiding and encouraging internal teams and design partners to bring creative vision to life.

As the leader of LIV’s internal design firm, LIV Creative Group, the Creative Director empowers the best creative thinkers to grow ideas that will make an impact on lives and communities through architecture, interiors, landscapes, communications, experiential design, and wellness. Working across disciplines, the Creative Director will foster a consistent level of intentionality and execution across project timelines, design teams, and communities.

This role requires someone with the mind, talent, and experience to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and bring creative concepts to life. He or she must have the ability to both delegate and execute creative. This role requires a thinker and a maker, but also a motivator and leader. The Creative Director should be energized by the idea of mentoring a team and embrace setting creative direction. The opportunities are endless, so creativity must be as well.

The Creative Director must have experience in at least one of the following disciplines: architecture, interiors, landscape architecture, branding and/or placemaking. Experience in design related to real estate, multifamily housing or hospitality is required in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspire a cross-functional creative team by setting clear vision, nurturing creative excellence, and delivering effectively.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and partners to bring the LIV and Livano brands to life across diverse properties and projects.
  • Draw on site- and market- specific information to create a unique design vision for each new multifamily community. Create a vision book that incorporates precedent imagery and concept sketches in order to communicate the design narrative both internally and externally.
  • Review drawings from architect, interior design, and landscape architect partners to ensure that the project vision is brought to life in the construction documents. Provide markups, sketches, and additional precedent imagery to push forward the design narrative.
  • Travel regularly to observe the unique design styles and programming opportunities in relevant markets.
  • Create and execute fresh, innovative concepts for community design, programming, and placemaking.
  • Collaborate closely with our Graphic Designer to design wayfinding signage and environmental graphics packages that support the overall design vision for each community.
  • Facilitate a culture of collaboration across multiple creative disciplines and throughout the company.
  • Oversee the quality of all creative deliverables, ensuring excellent execution, strategic alignment and timely completion.
  • Effectively manage schedules to meet a variety of deadlines.
Qualifications
  • Strong background in placemaking with experience in one of the following disciplines: architecture, interior design, landscape architecture. Multifamily or real estate experience is required.
  • Ability to design at the highest level.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative direction in at least two of the following areas: architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, branding, real estate.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate creative teams to use their talents effectively and efficiently.
  • Commitment to understanding the LIV business model and how the company creates value.
  • Expertise in collaboration and coordination with cross-functional teams and third-party partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet high standards for quality and accuracy under tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Proficient in use of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with manual and AI rendering processes.
  • Ability to work in Autocad or Revit preferred.

Due to the highly collaborative nature of our work, this job is based in our Birmingham, AL headquarters. Developments are located throughout the southeast, so this role will require some overnight travel.
