As the Controller, you will be responsible for managing all accounting operations, preparing and ensuring the accuracy of financial records, maintaining compliance with regulations, + providing insightful financial reporting to support decision-making. The Controller will play a critical role in overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, implementing best practices, + working closely with leadership to maintain the financial health of the company.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee and manage all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cost accounting.
• Maintain accurate and timely financial records in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Develop, monitor, and manage annual budgets and long-term financial plans in partnership with operational and executive leadership.
• Oversee and optimize accounting systems and related integrations.
• Partner with manufacturing operations to monitor cost accounting processes, analyze variances, and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and cost control.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial, tax, and reporting requirements.
• Support external audits and provide required documentation and analysis.
• Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and ensure timely customer, vendor, and payroll payments.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and support accurate financial reporting.
• Provide financial analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to provide recommendations regarding financial performance and business operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting.
• Experience with accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across departments.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS + ATTITUDES

• Technical skills: Technical skills are essential for this role to be able to prepare financial statements, budgets + reports. The Controller must have knowledge of the systems + accounting software that they will use to complete a project.
• Communication skills: Communication skills are fundamental for this role to effectively communicate with the team, collaborate with other departments + ensure smooth operations. Ability to articulate questions, provide updates + discuss project details with team members. They need strong written + verbal communication skills for creating reports, documentation, and to facilitate meetings.
• Attention to detail: The Controller needs sharp attention to detail to ensure a high level of accuracy in financial record-keeping. This attention to detail enables them to be meticulous in conducting regular reconciliations + audits. They need to be vigilant in ensuring compliance with accounting standards + policies.
• Problem-solving skills: This position will use strong analytic skills to proactively identify + resolve issues. They need the ability to work collaboratively with others, resolving any issues that arise + contributing to a positive team environment.
• Mechanical aptitude: As the Controller, you will need the capacity to interpret the impact of production activities on financial outcomes. You need to have the ability to learn + adapt to new technologies.
