Job Summary
Responsible for creating, preparing and improving recipes for baked goods such as pastries, breads, and plated desserts. Assists in overseeing and/or instructing Assistant Baker in baking and cleaning equipment and facilities. Ensures quality controls and recipe standardization are in compliance with approved standards. Monitors and enforces food sanitization and safety standards.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures proper training, knowledge and compliance with recipes and standards
2. Preps and properly prepares ingredients for use following proper food handling and safety guidelines
3. Arranges presentations of desserts, platters and pastry products
4. Maintains levels of daily production assignments
5. Ensures food quality through tasting
6. Maintains and operates equipment according to approved safety standards
7. Reports issues with production, equipment, personnel or products to management
8. Maintains daily sanitation standards and logs per established guidelines
9. Determines amount and types of items and supplies required for food preparation
10. Completes food temperature checks before service and as needed per established guidelines
11. Accepts ownership and responsibility for success of pastry shop and team
12. Stores food properly and safely, following established guidelines marking the date and item, etc.
13. At the direction of leadership, acts as a lead in the absence of the lead role
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent
Other Required Qualifications
ServSafe certified or obtains certification within twelve (12) months of hire
Required Experience
One (1) year of experience working in food handling at a retail, food service, bakery, warehouse or grocery establishment or the successful completion of a qualified culinary program
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Culinary degree or certificate from a culinary arts program
Preferred Experience
Experience baking in an institutional operation and catering operation
Proposed Salary
