Job description

Reno Staffing is looking for an experienced Fire Assay Technician for a mineral testing facility in the Sparks Area!


Shift: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Pay: $22/hr.
Location: Sparks, NV (in town)

Resume and on site interview will be required for this position.
Summary:

The Fire Assay Technician is responsible for performing all tasks in fire assay as well as standard sample preparation (drying, crushing, splitting, screening and/or pulverizing) for various analyses; will operate laboratory equipment such as jaw crushers, rolls crushers, pulverizers, scales, riffle and rotary splitters as well as maintaining daily records and logs.

Basic Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Complying with all health, safety and environmental rules and regulations
  • Maintaining a clean work area
  • Performing all fire assay tasks such as sample weighing, fluxing, fusing and cupelling
  • Bead picking
  • Sample prep which may include crushing, splitting and pulverizing
  • Sample inventory and drying
  • Containerizing, storing and labeling hazardous wastes
  • Conducting inspections of hazardous waste storage areas

Qualifications & Skills Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be able read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Employee must be able to follow specific directions, work in a safe manner, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records without constant supervision
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment that is within your scope and abilities
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check
  • A positive attitude towards safety regulations and production and quality goals
  • Able to comply with all company policies

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Must be able to lift and carry repetitively up to 75-lbs
  • Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours/shift
  • Must be able to pass lead exposure medical evaluation upon hire and submit to periodic blood test
  • Must be able to pass a respirator medical evaluation and wear a respirator
  • Must be able to work in a high temperature environment
  • Be clean shaven where respirator contacts the face

An up to date resume with fire assay experience is required to be considered for this position.

This is not a warehouse position, this is more of a mining, laboratory, . 10-panel drug test (includes testing for THC) required upon receiving job offer.
