Job description

Senior Brand Marketing Manager
Remote US & Canada
Reports to: Head of Brand & North America Marketing
About the Role
As thatgamecompany continues to expand its reach and create emotionally resonant experiences, we are seeking an innovative Senior Brand Marketing Manager. At our core, we believe games should be a force for good, and we need a storyteller who can translate that philosophy into authentic, community-first campaigns.
This role is not for a traditional marketer; it is for a creative architect who understands that a brand is a living narrative. You will lead our brand planning on a global scale while maintaining a hands-on focus on the North American market. You will be a champion for our players, a protector of our authenticity, and a pioneer who is unafraid to innovate and fail fast in pursuit of something truly special.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Brand Planning & NA Execution
  • Narrative Campaign Design:Architect and execute marketing campaigns that prioritize storytelling over transactional advertising, ensuring every touchpoint reflects our studio's unique identity.
  • North America Market Leadership: Serve as the primary lead for all North American marketing initiatives, tailoring global strategies to resonate with local Gen Z and "INFP" audiences.
  • Lifecycle Management: Develop comprehensive brand plans for SKY and seasonal expansions, overseeing the journey from reveal to live operations.
  • Budget & KPI Management: Oversee the North American marketing budget and establish KPIs that measure emotional engagement and community health alongside traditional growth metrics.

Community-First Advocacy
  • Champion of the Player:Act as the internal voice for the community, ensuring that marketing strategies are grounded in real player behavior and foster positive relationships.
  • Authenticity Management: Vet all creative and communications to ensure they feel organic and respectful, avoiding "ad-speak" that could alienate our dedicated player base.
  • Creator & Influencer Collaboration: Partner with creators who genuinely align with our values, focusing on authentic integration rather than purely paid placements.

Creative Collaboration & Brand Legacy
  • Creative Team Synergy:Partner closely with the creative team to define unique campaign aesthetics, visual directions, and creative platforms.
  • Legacy Building: Develop strategic initiatives that build a long-lasting brand legacy, ensuring every campaign contributes to the enduring identity and cultural impact of thatgamecompany.

Innovation & Agile Marketing
  • Pioneer New Platforms: Experiment with non-traditional channels to meet players where they are.
  • Fail Fast Mentality:Foster an environment of rapid experimentation, using data-driven insights to quickly pivot and optimize campaigns.

Project Management & Operational Excellence
  • Project Management: Lead complex marketing projects from ideation to delivery, maintaining highly organized workflows and ensuring cross-functional alignment.
  • Efficiency & Workflow Optimization:Collaborate with the Head of Brand & North America Marketing to establish and optimize efficiencies and workflows across cross-functional teams.

Strategic Partnerships & Licensing
  • Licensing & Partnerships: Identify and manage strategic licensing opportunities that extend the studio's brand and IP into new consumer spaces, ensuring all collaborations align with our core values and maintain authenticity.

Must Haves
  • Experience: At least 8 years in Brand Marketing or Product Management within the video games industry, preferably with experience in live-service or mobile gaming.
  • Storytelling Prowess: A proven track record of building marketing campaigns that tell a compelling story and evoke genuine emotion.
  • Community Core:A "community-first" mindset with deep empathy for player needs and a commitment to authenticity.
  • Market Expertise: Extensive knowledge of the North American gaming landscape and Gen Z audience behavior.
  • Agility: A history of innovative thinking and the resilience to learn from failed experiments.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Haves
  • Global Collaboration: Experience working with international teams and managing complex IP licenses.
  • Creative Background: Experience in visual design, copywriting, or video production to help guide internal and external creative teams.
  • Passion for the Vision: A deep appreciation for thatgamecompany's history of creating "softly and loosely" crafted worlds that provide emotional room to breathe.

Perks:
  • Paid Time Off, Holidays and Two Weeks Winter Break
  • Employees and their dependents get medical, dental, and vision coverage, regardless of their level, tenure, or position within the company. Moreover, these benefits start on the first day of the job-there's no waiting period before they kick in.
  • Pet Insurance for those who need it too.
  • Compassionate leave for employees who needs to take care of their family members
  • Pre-tax wellness stipend
  • Pre-tax work from home stipend
  • Access our savings plan (401K program) with company match
  • Mental health resources including Headspace membership and Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Discount portal for everyday goods and services
  • Employee inclusive and diversity initiatives such as Grow Together
  • Support for personal professional development

We look forward to meeting you!
