Job Overview
The Tailor/Seamstress Team Lead's primary responsibility is to sew garments either to repair or to alter to customer's tastes and to operate on sewing equipment.
Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, while part-time colleagues are typically scheduled 12-24 hours per week. What You Will Do
  • Perform alterations on garments including but not limited to reconstruction of backs, sides, collars, and bodices, inserting shoulder pads, taking out hems to lengthen, shortening lengths, and adding cuffs
  • Repair garments by replacing buttons, mending holes, and replacing hemlines
  • Give advice regarding the fit and care of garments to customers
  • Write up alterations tickets recording the details of the alterations being made on the garment
  • Press and steam garments before returning to customer
  • Be knowledgeable of styles, fits, and fabrics to better serve the customer
  • Supervise alterations staff in daily tasks
  • Provide training and coaching to alterations staff regarding fit
  • Ensure all procedures, policies, and standards are understood and followed by colleagues
  • Maintain alterations supplies and alert OVM of supply needs
  • Follows shortage programs and procedures
  • Perform other duties as necessary
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities

Who You Are
  • Candidates with a High School Diploma or equivalent are encouraged to apply
  • Prior experience a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers
  • Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays

Essential Physical Requirements You Will Perform
  • This position requires lifting, constant moving, standing, and reaching with arms and hands.
    • Involves standing for at least two consecutive hours, lifting at least 25lbs., stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders
    • Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, stooping and color vision.
  • Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register and ability to process register transactions
