Job description
The LSU College of Agriculture is seeking to fill a tenure-track assistant/associate professor position in the Department of Textiles, Apparel Design, and Merchandising (TAM).
Responsibilities- 50% Teaching: teach undergraduate and graduate courses that may include but are not limited to Retail Mathematics, Retail Buying and Merchandise Management, Sustainability for Apparel and Textiles, Global Textile and Apparel Economics, Fashion Entrepreneurship, Advanced Topics in Fashion Merchandising, Consumer Behavior in the Apparel Merchandising Environment, Fashion, Luxury and Lifestyle brands, and Research Methods. The 50% teaching appointment will consist of a standard teaching load of 2 three-hour credit courses per semester in the fall and spring only
- 45% Research: Develop research in areas of Textiles, Apparel Design & Merchandising with an emphasis in innovations in merchandising technology, artificial intelligence integration, digital retailing/transformation, consumer behavior, and/or fashion branding. Develop an independent and collaborative research program related to their field, acquire external funding for scholarship with the expectation that they will disseminate their research findings.
- 5% Service: Contribute to advising and recruitment of both undergraduate and graduate students. Professional involvement in community; membership in appropriate professional and/or academic organizations; ability to develop industry partnerships.
As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.
Salary and Benefits- Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications- PhD in Textile, Apparel Design & Merchandising or related area.
- Established college-level teaching record as graduate student, instructor or above; demonstrated record of scholarship, participation in juried exhibitions, and ability to obtain external funding; evidence of teaching excellence, graduate and undergraduate level advising, and service consistent with appointment.
- PhD in Textile, Apparel Design & Merchandising or related area with 3 years of service.
- Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of courses within the Textile, Apparel Design and Merchandising curriculum (e.g., Retail Mathematics, Retail Buying and Merchandise Management, Sustainability for Apparel and Textiles, Global Textile and Apparel Economics, Fashion Entrepreneurship, Advanced Topics in Fashion Merchandising, Consumer Behavior in the Apparel Merchandising Environment, Fashion, Luxury and Lifestyle brands, and Research Methods); industry experience; professional involvement in community; membership in appropriate professional and/or academic organizations; ability to develop industry partnerships.
