Job description

81Eighty is seeking a Product Developer with a sharp eye for fashion and a strong foundation in apparel design. This role is an integral part of the design team, collaborating closely with Designers, Account Managers, and Associate Designers to develop high-quality products from concept to completion.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience and industry knowledge to the position, along with a proven ability to manage high volumes of work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. They are highly organized and efficient, with the ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and successfully juggle multiple projects simultaneously. This individual is coachable, adaptable, and continuously looking for ways to improve processes and maximize productivity. Above all, they uphold high standards throughout the product development process and bring a genuine passion for design paired with a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop all fabrics and trims working closely with global vendors to find the best quality and price.
  • Collaborate with Apparel Designers as assortment lines are designed and developed.
  • Generate and maintain tech pack BOMs for all styles, utilizing PLM system to oversee daily tasks.
  • Manage color approvals ensuring all garment components follow brand standards.
  • Communicate with global vendors to solve production/development issues.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with the applicable vendor base with detailed follow up.
  • Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the customer and uphold standards for each client.
  • Support in client product presentation meetings.
  • Work within calendar to ensure deadlines are achieved.

Qualification Requirements

  • Degree in textiles, apparel manufacturing, product development or apparel design related field.
  • +5 years’ minimum experience working in Product Development and/or Design.
  • Must have development experience as well as understanding of the apparel production processes and fabric/trim development.
  • In depth knowledge of fabric, apparel, materials, construction and fit.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in basic office software and preferably PLM experience
  • Strong organizational and time management skills while maintaining high work volume of work.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.
  • Dedication and commitment with the ability to learn new skills and adapt to change as our customer’s needs or business model changes.
  • Positive person, can-do attitude.
