Position: Construction Manager (Gas Experience preferably ATMOS) Location: Austin, TX Job Type: Full-time
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Natural Gas Construction Manager to oversee the planning, development, and execution of natural gas utility projects in the Austin area. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas infrastructure, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards. This role demands strong leadership skills, project management abilities, and a deep understanding of gas distribution systems. Previous experience with Atmos, West Texas Gas, or any other gas distribution system company a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of natural gas pipeline construction projects, including the installation and repair of underground gas utilities, regulators, and metering stations.
  • Lead and supervise construction teams, and vendors, ensuring the timely completion of projects while adhering to safety, quality, and budgetary requirements.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including schedules, cost estimates, resource allocation, and risk management for gas utility construction projects.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations, building codes, and environmental requirements for natural gas systems.
  • Oversee site inspections and assessments, ensuring gas pipelines are installed safely, and soil integrity and trench safety are maintained.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve construction issues, including technical challenges related to natural gas systems and pipeline installation.
  • Monitor construction progress and make adjustments to schedules and resources as needed to keep projects on track.
  • Ensure that safety standards are followed, particularly in high-risk environments, and promote a safety-first culture on the job site.
  • Manage procurement of materials and ensure timely delivery of supplies to meet project timelines.
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports to senior management, clients, and project stakeholders.
  • Review and approve subcontractor work, ensuring all tasks are completed to the highest standards.
  • Oversee quality control processes to ensure that all work meets or exceeds industry standards for natural gas systems.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of [5] years of experience in natural gas construction management, specifically with underground pipelines and gas distribution systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of gas utility infrastructure, including pipeline construction, pressure regulation, and metering systems.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale natural gas construction projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols, particularly with underground utilities and gas systems (e.g., excavation safety, trench safety, and gas leak prevention).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications for gas infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and local gas utility codes and standards.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA, HAZWOPER) or other gas-specific training is preferred.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience managing projects in the Austin area or with local utility companies (e.g., Atmos Energy, Texas Gas Service).
