Job Summary
The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As the Testing Engineer you will have the opportunity to define system/equipment test plans, specifying the test benches that will support the development of the electric propulsion systems and the system/equipment verification for the battery-powered aircrafts that will enable the word to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.

Job Description
The Test Engineering Manager is responsible for defining and executing the strategy, infrastructure, and processes required to validate electric propulsion systems for aerospace applications. This role oversees the development of integrated test capabilities, ensuring products meet performance, safety, and certification requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
This leader partners closely with engineering, program management, and operations to ensure test readiness aligns with program milestones, while building scalable and robust test environments that support current and future platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Test Infrastructure & Capability Development
  • Define requirements for test equipment, rigs, and laboratory capabilities supporting electric propulsion systems (motors, drives, controls, and system integration)
  • Oversee the design, procurement, commissioning, and lifecycle management of test assets
  • Implement advanced data acquisition, control systems, and automation capabilities to enhance testing efficiency and insight
  • Ensure test environments accurately represent operational conditions and system behavior

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of test engineers and technicians across multiple laboratories
  • Establish clear roles, performance expectations, and development pathways within the test organization
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and engineering excellence

Cross-Functional Integration
  • Act as the primary interface between test and cross-functional teams, including systems, electrical, mechanical, software, and program management
  • Support product development by ensuring timely and high-quality test data to inform design decisions
  • Partner with global engineering and manufacturing teams to align test practices and standards

Program & Project Management
  • Manage budgets, timelines, risks, and resource allocation for test development activities
  • Support customer engagements and represent test infrastructure activities in technical reviews

Safety, Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure all test activities are conducted in a safe, controlled, and compliant manner
  • Maintain configuration control and obsolescence management for test systems
  • Champion adherence to company and regulatory requirements across all testing activities

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Control Systems, or related discipline
  • Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in system-level testing, integration, or validation within aerospace or high-reliability industries
  • Demonstrated experience leading test organizations, programs, or complex laboratory environments
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Electric propulsion systems, power electronics, and high-voltage systems
    • Aerospace validation and qualification standards (e.g., DO-160, ARP4754A)
    • Test system architecture, instrumentation, and data acquisition
    • Requirements management and verification/validation processes
  • Experience working in structured product development environments (e.g., phase-gate or similar frameworks)
