Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The medical assistant will support our physicians, nurse practitioners, and clinical staff by performing patient care tasks, assisting with diagnostic procedures, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This position requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and commitment to patient service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs, medical history, and medication lists.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and diagnostic testing.
  • Assist physicians during exams and minor procedures.
  • Perform EKGs, administer injections, and collect lab specimens as trained/credentialed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and electronic medical records AMR.
  • Support scheduling, prior authorizations, and medication refills as needed.
  • Ensure exam rooms and equipment are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications procedures and follow up care.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program required
  • Current medical assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA or equivalent) required
  • Current CPR certification required, or willingness to attain upon hire
  • Prior experience in cardiology or specialty practice is a plus
  • Strong computer/EMR proficiency and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and deliver outstanding patient care
