Job description

Job Summary
Assists Engineering and Manufacturing in Product Development and Maintaining Product Quality. Under the engineering laboratory supervisor's and/or senior laboratory personnel's direction, performs management instructions, and provides technical skills to assure laboratory efficiency and service. Assists in establishing laboratory techniques, processes and engineering personnel in the development, testing and evaluation of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under the specific direction of senior laboratory personnel, performs laboratory work which is closely supervised and wherein objectives, technical decisions and methods are prescribed, clearly outlined or made by others. Conducts work phases in strict accord with established procedures; follows written and verbal instruction and secures technical guidance and assistance, as required.
  • Assists senior technicians in the setup and operation of mechanical testing apparatus and equipment, as directed. Demonstrate proper laboratory techniques with the use of specialized equipment. Proof, leak, Cryogenic, motion, burst, flow, life cycling and similar mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic tests.
  • Take pre- and post-test measurements and readouts, verify axial movements, degree of angulation, checks compression and extension limits, critical length part deflection, deformation and distortion.
  • Performs clerical and other duties as assigned. Make standard mathematical calculations using shop mathematics.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Mechanical background helpful.
