Physical Security Engineer will be responsible for high level configuration and integration of access control and IP/analog surveillance systems. They will also have strong knowledge of all Physical Security systems and will be asked to serve as both an escalation point for installations and troubleshooting and a technical advisor to clients.
Essential Functions
  • Configuration of physical security and supporting systems at a high level
  • Programming and commissioning line diagrams and as builts.
  • Technical oversight of project engineering and configuration tasks
  • Documentation and end user training
  • Serve as a subject matter expert
  • Serve as a technical advisor
  • Serve as an escalation point for troubleshooting
  • Develop and oversee project commissioning and testing
  • Participate as a trainer in A3U and other training programs
  • Perform end-user training
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Hold and retain certification in at least three VMS systems
  • Hold and retain certification in at least two access control systems
  • Hold and retain enterprise/advanced-level certification in at least one access control or VMS's
  • Have a minimum two years of experience configuring physical security systems
  • Have served as a Lead Technician - Physical Security (or equal) for a minimum of two years
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Have basic knowledge of network fundamentals, SQL database and Windows Server
  • Have proficiency in peripheral systems such as visitor management, video intercom, LPR, analytics, gate systems, etc.
  • Have mastery of IP camera technology, controller hardware, door hardware and credential technologies
  • Have the ability to communicate at a high level with customer IT staff
  • Have the ability to work with customer to design system configurations
  • function as an engineering resource for the project team on typical physical security projects
  • Participate in project commissioning and testing
  • Assist in the enforcement of standards related to final documentation
  • Possess basic system design and quoting abilities to assist sales when needed

Physical Demands
This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required.
Work Environment
This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
