Job description

MARS Solutions Group is looking for an experienced Electrical Test Engineering Technician located in Milwaukee, WI. Our client is a Building Automation industry Leader looking for high-quality talent to make a difference. They are known to respect a traditional work week and often extend contracts for added job security and stability

Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician will support the Test Engineering team in an electrical test laboratory environment. This role is hands-on and focused on the assembly, configuration, and testing of Motor Control Center (MCC) and switchgear test samples. The technician will assist with electrical testing in high-current environments while following established safety standards and laboratory procedures.

The position requires strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. The role also involves accurate documentation of test setups, procedures, and results, as well as collaboration with engineering teams to support product validation and testing activities.

Responsibilities:

Assemble and configure MCC and switchgear test samples based on engineering drawings and specifications

Perform mechanical and electrical assembly for test setups and configurations

Support preparation and execution of high-current electrical testing

Conduct testing in accordance with applicable industry standards, such as UL and IEC requirements

Perform and support testing activities including short circuit, arc flash, temperature rise, and dielectric (hi-pot) tests

Operate safely in high-power laboratory environments following all safety protocols

Record and document test procedures, configurations, results, and observations accurately

Maintain traceability of test data, deviations, and anomalies

Follow all LOTO procedures and electrical safety requirements

Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready lab environment using 5S principles

Support engineering teams during design verification, testing, and failure analysis activities

Communicate test progress, issues, and findings to relevant stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience:

Hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical assembly

Experience with power wiring, control wiring, and test instrumentation

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings

Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude

Understanding of electrical safety practices and LOTO procedures

Familiarity with working in high-energy or industrial test environments

Awareness of structured workplace practices such as 5S and Six Sigma principles

Preferred Experience:

Experience with MCCs, switchgear, or industrial electrical equipment testing

Familiarity with UL and IEC testing standards

Experience working in regulated or standards-based testing environments

Additional Details:

Duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension

Shift hours: Mon – Fri; 07 to 03:30
